Kansas State Home Inspector Regulations

Kansas has passed legislation which will require home inspectors to become licensed. 

This licensing law will require:

  • The Creation of a Home Inspectors Registration Board
  • Individuals who inspect in counties with populations of more than 60,000 ppl to register with the board by July 1, 2009
  • Individuals who inspect in counties with populations of 60,000 or less need to register by January 1, 2011

To register with the board once it is created, individuals would need to:

  • Be 18 or older
  • Successfully completed high school or have been engaged in the practice on the effective date of the act
  • General liability insurance not less than $100,000 and $10,000 E&O
  • Pass exam approved by board
  • Proof of membership in one or more national orgs
  • Pass 80 hours of approved education
    OR

    2 years experience and 100 paid inspection in counties populated by more than 60,000
    OR
    2 years experience and 35 paid inspections in counties populated by 60,000 or less
