Quaifications for becoming a Home Inspector

Education:

                 a) 80 hours of training

Testing:

                  a) Pass the National Home Inspector Examination

Additional:

                  a) Be at least 18 years of age with a high school diploma or equivalent
                  b) Pass a criminal background check
                  c) Maintain liability insurance

Inspectors who have performed home inspections for their lively hood for at least one year prior to July 1, 2008 and can show the board they are knowledgeable and experienced will not need to take the classroom training but will need to meet the other requirements listed above.
