Apply to Be a Home Inspection Intern
After completing your coursework, the next step is applying to become a home inspection intern.
Before you apply to become a home inspection intern, you’ll need to:
- Have a high school diploma or its equivalent
- Provide proof of completion of a board-approved training program
- Pay the $220 application fee
- Submit application
Once you’ve applied, you’ll have to find an inspector who is licensed and in good standing with the state of Connecticut to supervise your 100 required inspections.

Conduct 100 Home Inspections
To get the hands-on experience necessary to learn the trade, the state requires interns who are seeking a Home Inspector License to conduct 100 home inspections under the supervision of a licensed Home Inspector, 10 of which must be under direct supervision of a licensed Home Inspector. The associated home inspection logs, signed by your Supervisor, will be submitted with your license application.

Pay the $240 Application Fee and Submit Application to Become a Connecticut Home Inspector
Your application must include a payment of $240 ($40 application fee + $200 license fee). Along with your application, you must submit your home inspection logs.

Pass a Written Exam Administered by the Occupational and Professional Licensing Division
The final hurdle in obtaining your Connecticut Home Inspector License is to pass the written exam administered by the state’s Occupational and Professional Licensing Division. Once your license has been accepted, you’ll receive more information about the exam.

Requirements to Become a Connecticut Home Inspector
Connecticut’s home inspector registration is two-tiered: Home Inspector Intern Permit and Home Inspector License. Inspectors must first complete the requirements for the Home Inspector Intern Permit prior to completing the requirements to obtain a Home Inspector License.

- Home Inspections: 10 directly supervised inspections followed by 90 indirectly supervised inspections (license only)
